Sure I could do that but I’m not sure why you would want the first letter of every paragraph dropped. If you want a very simple drop cap for every paragraph use:

p:first-letter{font-size:200%;}

This works in most modern browsers.

milburn, thank you for a great plugin. I just had the idea to create it but found that you’ve just done so.

My idea was to make a plugin that would make the first letter of each paragraph capital. Perhaps you could extend yours to do just so, as a setting?

Changing the style of the drop caps using the admin menu will come in my next release of the plugin however for now you can change the style by modifying the file dropcaps.css This means knowing a bit of CSS. Add the following line:

font-family: font name, anotherfont;

You can also change the properties for the font-size, font-weight and colour.

I may at some point want to play around with the font. Could you give me a simple way of accomplishing that? Or, is it possible for that to be an added feature sometime in the future?

Your site looks good now the plugin is working again. I’ll make a note that it isn’t compatible with OpenBook Book Data.

I found the problem. Your plugin began working when I deactivated OpenBook Book Data. I appreciate you doing my thinking for me. Your suggestion was right on target. I hope all of your other problems are that easy.

I suggest that you try using an older version as an experiment. If an older version works then I know that it is a recent feature which is causing the problem. You could also try disabling all other plugins to verify wether the problem is caused by a conflicting plugin.

I undoubtedly have overdone it on plugins. Being new at blogging, I’m like a 69-year old kid in a candy store. The following are the plugins presently implemented on my site.

Akismet, Berri Technorati, cforms, Copy Alerts, currex, Daiko’s Text Widget, Google XML Sitemaps, MaxBlogPress Favicon, MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer, No Self Pings, OpenBook Book Data, seekXL Snapr, StatPress, Subscribe to Comments, WordPress Admin Bar, WordPress Thread Comment, WP Chiclets, WP Easy Uploader, WP Ideas

It could have been the addition of a plugin or the update of one. I’m not certain but I think that I might have added WP Ideas, seekXL Snapr, OpenBook Book Data and the two MaxBlogPress ones since I started using yours. There were a couple of recent cforms updates. That’s the best that my memory can do. It may or may not be of any use as a guide. I obviously need to do a bit of house-cleaning but they seem to have accumulated while I was not paying close attention.

As stated earlier, I liked it while it was working.
